Guns N’ Roses performed in the Bulgarian capital Sofia on July 21 at the Vasil Levski National Stadium. The concert lasted over 3 hours and the band performed 31 songs in front of more than 40,000 fans. The concert is part of their European tour “Because What You Want & What You Get Are Two Completely Different Things”, which includes 24 shows across Europe and the Middle East.
The American hard rock band took the stage just before 7:20 p.m., and under the hot July sun, opened with the song “Welcome to the Jungle”. After 18 more songs, Axl Rose handed the microphone to Duff McKagan for a cover of “Thunder and Lightning”, a song released by the band “Thin Lizzy” in 1983. Addressing the roaring stadium, Axl Rose said: “Thank you for making us feel at home.” .
The band recently underwent a line-up change – long-time drummer Frank Ferrer left the group and was replaced by Isaac Carpenter. Despite the changes, the band remained true to its recognizable sound. The concert in Sofia featured timeless hits such as “Sweet Child o’ Mine”, “November Rain” and many others. However, Slash stole the show for us, playing numerous guitars.
Before the headliners, the audience was warmed up by a 40-minute set by the American band Public Enemy. They first performed in Bulgaria in July 2012 at the Sofia Rocks festival.
Located in the heart of Sofia, the Vasil Levski Stadium is the most important sports venue in Bulgaria. Opened in 1953, the stadium has a seating capacity of 43,230 and hosts numerous sports and music events.
In the same location, for the umpteenth time, we have installed a massive, imposing Eurotruss stage.
