Hills of Rock, Bulgaria

Behind us are three phenomenal Rock&Metal festival days and one of our favorite Festivals in Bulgaria, Hills of Rock, with which we have been cooperating for four years! As every year, a great atmosphere and an even better Line Up!

The HILLS OF ROCK festival, which takes place in the oldest European city – Plovdiv, is the biggest rock and metal festival in Bulgaria. Three days, three stages. Big sound names performed on the main stage: Sepultura, The Smashing Pumpkins, Gojira, Extreme, Machine Head, Mastodon, Skunk Anansie, Fear factory, While She Sleeps, Wolves, Statc-X, Rise of the Northstar, Wolfmother. The festival in its sixth edition took place on July 25, 26 and 27, 2025 at the Plovdiv Rowing Canal.

An hour away from the Bulgarian capital Sofia, you could see some of the more famous bands of today. Hills of Rock’s main stage lineup is here to impress, with everything from the ferocious grooves of Fear Factory and the high-octane energy of Static-X, to the melodic power of While She Sleeps and As Everything Unfolds. Legends like Extreme, the raw chaos of Rise of the Northstar, retro Wolfmother and the popular Wolves who rocked the scene.

New platforms and new bands

Several tens of thousands of people from the country and the region visited the festival and enjoyed 48 great bands of all guitar genres. Current bands, world stars at the top of their careers, good old bands reactivated, bands on the rise, local bands and those who performed for the first time in Bulgaria.

Located on almost 62,000 square meters, Hills of Rock provided dozens of places to eat, drink and many places to relax. But two other stages – Stroeja and Na Tamno – which abounded in genres, from the alternative beats of Dope, H-Blockx and Kultur Shock, to Balkan rock hits like Revu, Superhiks, and Kerana & Kosmonavtite, Animatsionerit. This year, a gallery of artwork suitable for a summer festival was also presented.

For the first time, a special platform was built above the recording desk, where there were twenty hearing impaired people who in special costumes could “hear” the music, along with interpreters for voice language, who translated the texts.
