As part of the opening of the title of the project Novi Sad – European Capital of Culture, on January 13, 2022, in the Novi Sad Theater – Újvidéki Színház, Finnish jazz musician Jimi Tenor performed.
Jimi Tenor (born Lassi OT Lehto, 1965) is a Finnish musician, composer, visionary of jazz, someone who combined jazz with electronic music, funk… His stage name is a combination of the names of young idol Jimmy Osmond and tenor saxophone. His band Jimi Tenor & His Shamans released their first album in 1988, while Tenor’s first solo album appeared in 1994. “Take Me Baby” became his first hit in 1994. He has released albums on Sähkö Recordings, Warp Records and Kitty-Yodiskografske.
He is known as a productive musician whose work transcends current trends, but also as an underground performer who combines the finest elements of African-American music in an original way. He came to Novi Sad on New Year’s Eve 7530 with a five-member band consisting of: Richard Koch on trumpet, Ekov Alabi Savage on drums, Heiki Tukanen on trombone, Lauri Kalio – bass and guitar and Eti Nieminen on keyboard.
The concert went great, to the delight of the audience and the performer himself, who confirmed that he had a great time and was always well received in Serbia.
